  • Rated by Forbes Magazine as one of the Best Places to Launch a Business or Career, Oshkosh offers a quality of life nearly unsurpassed by other U.S. locations.

  • Oshkosh boasts one of America’s lowest crime rates. According to Metropolitan Area Awards compiled by Morgan Quitno Press, Oshkosh-Neenah ranked 8th among the safest metropolitan areas. This analysis researched over 300 U.S. meto areas and these results were published on November 21, 2005.  Wisconsin ranked 14th for "Healthiest State" and "Most Liveable State."

  • Education is a top priority for Oshkosh and is ranked 20th for the Top Metro Schools in the nation according to Expansion Magazine, May 8, 2006 issue. Wisconsin ranked 8th for "Smartest State" according to Metropolitan Area Awards, compiled by Morgan Quitno Press for 2005-2006.

  •  Local property tax rate net rate per $1000 of assessed value is $27.09 for Oshkosh. Wisconsin corporate tax rate is 7.9%, retail sales is 5%, and taxes on machinery, equipment and inventory are exempt. In the study by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development published in December 2005, Winnebago County’s rate of growth was above the state average. The current growth rate is a reflection of our vibrant and thriving economy. 

  • A 4.2% unemployment rate¹ in 2004 is a healthy rate for providing industry with a pool of qualified employees without having a large proportion of the labor force out of work.

  • The local workforce leads the state in the percent of the population age 16 and over that is currently in the labor force. At 73.1 percent, it is well above the state’s average of 70.8 percent and the national average of 65.4 percent².
