Electrical Power / Gas Services
Electrical power and natural gas services are provided to Oshkosh-based businesses by Wisconsin Public Service. Wisconsin Public Service provides electricity and natural gas to over 450,000 customers in 24 counties throughout northeastern and central Wisconsin and Menominee, Michigan. Wisconsin Public Service maintains a clean, safe, reliable and efficient electrical system that offers some unique advantages. Most obvious is the fact that their engineers and technicians are trained and experienced in working with high-voltage electrical systems. With this extensive knowledge and the same equipment they use on their own electrical distribution system, Public Service can help businesses avoid downtime and ensure the reliable, quality power your operation requires. In other words, the services provided by Wisconsin Public Service help prevent power glitches in your business or find ways to solve recurring power problems.

Wisconsin Public Service’s main objective is to ensure you have clean, reliable power and gas within your facility. “Advanced Power Services” from Wisconsin Public Service can help keep your operation running smoothly at a fair price—and that's the bottom line.

Through working with many different businesses over many years, Wisconsin Public Service acquired expertise, skills and resources that can solve problems, create opportunities, and foster economic growth. Wisconsin Public Service’s business assistance programs are tied into networks of both public and private resources to help businesses locating to the Oshkosh area. Some of these programs are:
  • Export Success - Global markets offer tremendous opportunity. This program, co-sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, the Wisconsin Department of Development, the International Center at St. Norbert College, and an international business consultant, has helped many businesses with their international sales efforts

  • Government Procurement Seminars - Government is a large purchaser of many products and services. These seminars, offered in conjunction with the Wisconsin Procurement Institute, explain the intricacies of doing business with both state and federal agencies

  • Quality Certification Assistance - Besides improving competitiveness, quality certifications like ISO-9000 can open doors for business worldwide. Working with expert resources, we can assist our business customers in getting the training and certifications they need

  • Company Expansion Loan Assistance - Under certain circumstances, we participate with other lenders to assist companies in arranging financing, interest note buy downs, and loan guarantees, for business expansions

Water Service / Sanitary Sewer
A municipal water and sewer system serves businesses and residents in Oshkosh and throughout the industrial parks and area townships. The abundant source of water is supplied by Lake Winnebago. The water department has a storage capacity of 2.25 million gallons, overhead capacity of 2.75 million gallons and a system capacity of 10 million gallons per day. The current system is in place to handle all future business needs. Currently, the average consumption is 7.5 million gallons per day with a peak consumption of 12.5 million gallons per day. A water analysis is available upon request.

Rates depend on the meter size and water consumption and billing is quarterly. 100% percent of the community is served by the municipal sewer system. The average load is 12.7 million gallons per day with a peak load of 49,541,000 million gallons/day. The current rate is $11 per quarter plus $2.04 per 100 cu/ft and is subject to change.

Storm Sewer Utility
The Oshkosh Public Works Department has a well-developed system for storm sewers, stormwater drainage ditches and retention ponds. Oshkosh is continually striving to protect and improve its infrastructure, businesses, and homes from damage due to flooding while protecting area waterways from pollution caused by stormwater run off. In order to fund the cost of stormwater management services, a stormwater utility was instituted. The stormwater utility assures that there will be funding to pay for storm sewer maintenance and repair, new sewer construction, street sweeping, and the administrative costs associated with stormwater management. This fee also helps pay for practices to help improve water quality and reduce flooding.

A stormwater utility fee is based on the cost of the municipal stormwater management program and the amount of impervious surface of a property. The fee is added as a separate line item on the quarter utility bill each property receives for sanitary sewer and drinking water services.

Telecommunications
Communication is a must for all businesses. The Oshkosh area provides a world-class telecommunications infrastructure to meet the needs of today’s high-tech businesses. Telephone companies, cellular providers, and Internet service providers have continued to meet the demands of the region's growing economy and will continue to be at the cutting edge of providing telecommunications infrastructure for high-speed data transfer. All of the City’s business and industrial parks are wired with fiber, in most cases by more than one server.
